FAQ
What do you do?
After a few years working in the wedding industry I decided to fully take the step into the design world. Looking back now, this was absolutely in my future. As long as I can remember I’ve always been interested in interiors, redesigning my childhood rooms and always paying a lot of attention to my friends’ homes growing up (probably a little weird for a 10 year old).
It wasn’t until recently that this deep passion was something I knew I needed to pursue. Now I offer design services ranging from in-home consultations, styling and e-design. You can see all my services here.
Why interiors?
I’ve always loved thinking about what a space can become, the potential for any space to perfectly suit it’s occupants. I think design needs to be the perfect combination of function and beautiful design. I also believe this can be achieved at many different budgets, and having a beautiful home doesn’t need to be an extravagant affair.
My goal when decorating is to create a ‘lived in’ home. By this I mean a space that is well designed to me isn’t as much about a style but about the feeling it gives, the feeling you get when you’re in it or looking at it.
I love that when done right, my job can bring new light to a space and to how my clients use and enjoy it, and ultimately how they feel when they’re in it.
Did you go to school for design?
I did! I completed a two year interior decorating program with honours. My final projects were selected to be used as examples for future courses.
Why Walker & Co.?
I loved the idea of keeping my last name connected to the company. It holds a special place for me not just as a name, but as a connection to my dad who passed away many years ago. I also wanted the name to feel collaborative as design is truly a team effort, with many people coming together to complete a project. That is where the ‘& Co.’ comes from.
